Reading a great book on communes / intentional communities from 1971, written by a sympathetic but outsider journalist after touring and visiting them cross country for 3 years. Much crashing and burning and dissolution, but also great senses of what is motivating and functioning in parts. The questions of decision making and open/closed membership are central.
