In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the publication of How Not to Die, a documentary about my life and work.

The great thing about photos is that they provide a snapshot of the reality perceived at that moment.

If I take a romantic picture of a forest path, you don't see the cornfields full of "future" cattle feed, sprayed with poison that damages the health of the adjacent forest.
And that's actually quite nice.

I love going to museums because I can completely lose myself there, lost in the paintings that transport me away from the complexities of everyday life.

I try to deal with the present though in a non-escapist way. This book helps me with that. It's not just a kilogram of paper. It sits on a table where I've experienced beautiful moments and in a house where I feel at home. It was written by and thanks to a team of idealistic people who believe that a healthy mind can only reside in a healthy body and that a plantbased diet is the key to a personal contribution to a better world.

You might see a book that doesn't interest you as much as cat videos, but in this book you'll find a world of information that is so much more interesting than any dopamine rush from superficial entertainment. And it could save your life. And the lives of countless innocent animals.

Fun fact and book spoiler: vegans have much less prostate problems.

FYI: I recommend using Flaxseed egg substitute for baking, etc. It’s a far healthier option.

According to #HowNotToDie book by Dr. M. Greger, “eating more than half an egg a day was associated with about 2 to 3 times higher odds for cancers of the mouth, colon, bladder, prostate, and breast compared to those who didn’t eat eggs at all.”

Please do what you can to reduce the suffering of hens while reducing your own health risks.

Das Buch #HowNotToDie hat bei mir in diesem Zusammenhang auf jeden Fall viele Fragen beantwortet und Denkanstöße gegeben. Kurz: #Lebenswandel, #Genetik, #Ernährung und eben auch #Bewegung. Bewegung scheint besonders wichtig, aber Ernährung am meisten unterschätzt.

I made some cabbage with sour cream. Oldest kid tasted and retreated. No other takers :) then I looked in this book (which gets more usage than any cookbook in this house) to see what benefits has the cabbage so I can sell it further. I learned that I should have let it rest for 45 minutes after shredding.

Next time.

We're trying to cut down on salt, meat, milk (maybe) and step up on beans and vegetables.
