Where can you get hourglasses (and sand timers of other durations) that work and are relatively accurate as timepieces?

I bought this hourglass in a consignment shop recently, it appeared to take roughly an hour. Sadly when I flipped it over the sand got stuck repeatedly, it only works in one direction I guess, which isn't useful. Can this be repaired?

These are calm tech! I like that they don't have notifications, they just remind me that time is passing.

Why are we obsessed with knowing the time?

Mankind of all ages always loved #watches, #clocks, #hourglasses, #meridians: we literally go insane for those little masterpieces so that we are able to spend haystacks of money to get them to our tables, walls, wrists or pockets.

I came to the conclusion that watches represents mankind as a species. If we could identify with any object created by us, I believe the watch should be that one object.

We live a time-limited life. We know with a good approximation what is our lifespan, and we know there are no loans of time (yet). We observe the universe placing the time as an independent variable. Our brains are designed to perceive variations, differences, signals with the time as a reference variable. Time is money say someone , but not with the due honesty. Time is life, my dear, and it doesn't come back.
