On the off chance that the title didn’t tell you everything you needed to know, Tokyo Gore Police tells you about 60 seconds in what kind of movie you’re getting into: often comedic, provocatively offensive at times, but always entertaining while delivering subversive commentary with a wink and a chainsaw. Director Yoshihiro Nishimura delivers a strange, enthusiastically blood-soaked assault that sacrifices narrative cohesion for wild effects work and is honestly probably better for it.
