The 1939 “Hound of the Baskervilles” -
Of the five preceding film versions of HOTB, this had the best Hound - which was actually played by two in-cropped Great Danes, Chief & Von (who had also played vicious guard dogs in that year’s “Wuthering Heights.”

First time we see fangs & snarls in The Hound, as you can see from this photo in my book, “Horror Dogs.”
