hood - cold fire woods of western lanes
how would you describe hood? theyre...a lot. they were/are a band from Leeds, formed by a set of brothers in 1990. they went on indefinite hiatus in 2005 after 6 full lengths, 20 singles, and 4 collections (including a collected box set released by Domino in 2011 which i couldnt afford at the time and definitely cannot afford now).
the band's music is kinda all over the place...its experimental lo-fi indie rock...their first lp's sound like movie soundtracks to me. i first heard them on the 1994 double lp comp "why popstars cant dance" on slumberland records (which i highly suggest this comp if youre interested in noisy
pop and dont know where to start).
anyways...this song i picked is from the "home is where it hurts" ep release in 2001...a lot of hood's songs are really sad when you understand the
lyrics, including this song, which is an accurate reflection of my disposition (and probably why i like them).
