I asked my wife about removing number row, F-keys, and modifiers for hand health using home row mods and a 40-key keyboard. Her reaction? Not supportive! #KeyboardEnthusiast #HomeRowMods #SplitKeyboard #HandHealth

#UnpopularOpinion?

Thumbs are said to be the strongest fingers. They probably are when used in opposition to the other fingers, but when it comes to typing (on the thumb row of a mech keyboard) they get moved laterally and are subject to quite a bit of stress. I'm experimenting with a more thumb-friendly keymap.

(Day 2 of #HomeRowMods is going pretty well.)

Back to playing with #HomeRowMods to see how much key real estate I can get away with. Entering the 30-34 key territory... Wish me good luck!

#MechanicalKeyboards

About 6 months ago, I started #typing #qwerty with the fingers in the proper positions rather than the left hand shifted one over (#WASD) or crossing rows.

I felt stuck at ~70-80% for quite some time but I noticed that I'm very quick at typing in natural languages again just now; as quick as I remember being before or perhaps even better.

Though I did also change my layout to #neoqwerty (qwerty but with neo layers) at the same time and started using layer-activated #HomeRowMods after #MRMCD25.

I try to install #kanata to use my laptop #keyboard with layers and #homerowmods but I don't succed !!

It was easy to use #ergol cause it's already in the keyboard settings.

So ... How to install kanata on a #debian based distribution? ( #linux #tuxedoOs to be precise)

I'm giving #homerowmods a spin on the #zsaVoyager
Let's see how this turns out with #neovim #rider #tmux #kitty #sway ...
I am giving a talk next week about how to use your computer in a more efficient way: #homerowmods, copy/paste with #copyq, screenshots with #flameshot, #wezterm, #tmux, #zsh, #vim, #neovim, #windowtilingmanager, #bat, #eza, #fzf, #rg, #fd, #zoxide, #yazi or #vifm, #lazygit
Any other ideas?

I'm slowly integrating elements of ergonomics keyboards/layouts in my normal kb and azerty layout in a very chaotic way.

The first one being home row mods, the ability to call command/shift/alt/control when holding the letter keys right under the fingers rest position (QSDFJKLM on a AZ/QWERTY). I used it more and more and kinda love it. Now, should I totally disable the standard modifier keys to force myself to only use the home row?

#homerowmods

Finally, I took the time to debug my #kmonad problems and also wrote a post about my findings. If you're interested in #mechanical_keyboard, #hotplug, #homerowmods, #systemd and #udev, read on: https://www.drakoland.fr/home-row-mod/
Home row mod with kmonad and systemd

@mir but the actual improvement came from using #homeRowMods and carefully crafting my layers.
