The last of my planned planting projects for this winter, and possibly the most exciting - my first foray into living #willow structures.

For our own kids and the others in our #HomeEd community with whom we share our space in the warmer months, a secret place for imagination and adventure hidden from adult eyes.

For the adults, a secluded space for quiet time and reflection or for gathering together, for summer sunbathing or winter fire.

Looking forward to watching it establish and grow.

So in a bit of #SelfDirectedLearning that is simultaneously impressive and scary, my 11yo now knows how to:

- run a Windows 11 and a Kali Linux VM at the same time.

- use nmap (on the Linux VM) to scan the local network for machines with the Windows remote desktop port open

- use freerdp to access the Windows VM based on the nmap output.

In the process they've also internalised the idea that open ports on a public network are a risk.

I've gone Arts Award crazy over the last few weeks! Continuing sessions with the Home Ed and Creative Connections groups in Alfreton and also a half term 'Discover in a Day' session with a group of young leaders in Newton.

Vibe for today is definitely "we're not made of sugar", stood in the rain in the park while kid #2 does his regular sports club.

But earlier on one of the other kids was singing "yo-ho, yo-ho, a #HomeEd life for me" while they were having a three way battle, dual wielding pool noodles, and I'm still chuckling about it half an hour later.
