I wanted to make a katsu-style curry sauce to be served on noodles and a schnitzel, with some pickled pattypan squash.
Halfway through I realised i was missing a bunch of the typical flavours and spices I’d lean on for that.
So, uh, had to improvise with some instant potato powder, some ras el hanut, some cajun seasoning mix, some fish sauce, some mustard… in the end, the taste was pretty close, and the warming heat was just right. It can be fun to improv.

Thanks brain, thanks for trapping me in the kitchen for two hours and making me burn myself several times. (see previous post)
At least the results are delicious
Needed to use the last of my dumpling dough and stuffing (which was broccoli and sausage and onion and soy)…
…and then I also made soup, also using broccoli and sausage and onion, but also potato and butter and wine. With crispy potato skin on top

Crepes layered with a spicy tomato and meat sauce that i made a while back, with some german sausage mixed into it, topped with chives and a fried egg.
Simple. And complicated. Anyone who tells you crepes are simple either makes them all the time and has developed good habits, or is a liar.
When you look in the fridge and you see a pack of spanish sausage and a box of brussels sprouts looking back at you...
Well, I didn’t plan on making a pseudo-stir-fry but that's how it turned out.
Sprouts, spanish chorizo, onion, capsicum, carrot, garlic, croutons, verjuice and mustard. Somehow it all works.
