My brahma hens want cooler temperatures in their pen....and I want the 1/2 dozen or so repairs & improvements it'd take to give them those cooler temperatures even if it gets another 20°F hotter outside & stays as such for 48hrs.
I fixed my MIDI keyboard! So proud of myself. It just broke, the micro-B plug broke off the board. So re-soldered it crappily and then smothered it with superglue and it somehow still works!
Had my Akai LPK25 for at least 15 years. maybe more. Use it regularly now with Ableton Live Lite for chords and ideas.
The new one apparently has a better keyboard and internal clock. but is basically the same. But unlike this which was £25 or so, they are something like £40 now!

Winter plumbing problems often begin with a single frozen pipe hidden behind a wall, in a crawl space, or in a garage.
I’ve put together a practical homeowner's guide covering:
• Pipe insulation
• Heat tape
• Outdoor hose prep
• Dripping faucet tips
• Freeze warning signs

Weird request: any ideas for a small window prop? Need some kind of bar about 7 inches (17.8 cm) long, maybe 1 inch cross-section. (Ideally length adjustable; but not vital.)
I'm installing a bedroom air conditioner—in a vinyl window. Don't trust screws in vinyl.
With AC in, the window I want to "lock" down on the AC has about 7 inches clear for a prop above. Most people use wood; any other ideas? Online has multi adjustable window security bars: all too long.

Our dishwasher (a Kenmore Elite circa 2010) accumulates a lot of scale, which I have never been able to to clean effectively. I scrub the filter every few weeks, but there is so much silt in the filter & drain zone that I can't easily reach, so it immediately re-coats the filter. I'm amazed it drains at all, and that our dishes and glassware seem to come out clean! Although we do pre-wash everything that goes in.
White vinegar (and a lot of elbow grease) works best to clean the filter itself. Will it work to run the washer with white vinegar? I'm afraid that would damage the already-old gaskets. Is there a more reliable & safe approach?
Many #CambridgeMA residents and businesses blame the municipal water for ruining appliances. Hardness is around 70 ppm Ca & Mg, which I believe makes it slightly to moderately hard. (I know I should flush our hot water heater tank more often.)
