Two #LiamNeeson movies just cleared out from the Tivo: #Taken (2008) and #Blacklight. Neither has dated at all well.

Taken began a fairly dismal and repetitive movie franchise, but now has the retrospective added zest (if one can call it that) of #HollyValance pretending to be a friendly pop star.

Without harping on unpleasant subjects, I shall merely say that Blacklight's visions of an outspoken opposition politician, an FBI director, and special U.S.A. federal agents, as well as its ending, seem like an optimistic starry-eyed fairy tale in 2026, when the movie was clearly supposed to be a dark thriller in 2022.

Critics panned it at the time for being 'paranoid'. Today we'd pan it for not knowing how people actually react to such things, when everyone in the audience will know better. Like how audiences know that cracking the glass on a smart 'phone does not shut it off forever, as many people have experienced what happens and replacement screens nowadays.

Quite impressive that the Biden event is going to be hosted by timeless fashion icon Anna Wintour. Meanwhile, the Trump version has to make do with Holly Valance, someone who was a soap opera actor for a while and then embarked on a mercifully brief pop career before marrying a hedge fund manager and discovering 'trickle-down economics'.
