We need help and the blatant truth is there isn't a safety net when you're dangling above rock bottom but below bare minimum that's expected as somehow achievable. All the programs and cash benefits and shit? You have to actually be *on the streets* in CA to qualify - and usually for some amount of time, too.
They don't even give hot food ebt on disability grounds if you're under 65 - because apparently younger people can't be That Disabled or something idefk ask DPSS.

hi all, going to give this #MutualAid thing a try again. I've been really kind of bummed that even when I have posts up I get no traction, so please if you see this boost it. @[email protected] and I are disabled and queer. and just about shit broke, or trying to claw our way out of it (while I fruitlessly try to sell our now unused RV so that it doesn't just become a blighted unused RV stuck in my parent's driveway now that I can't drive). but the bills are always due and I can't go up while being dragged down. we have a credit card that I've been using for necessary expenses and a few nice things, and I know the bill comes due. we additionally need to buy Inoru a few more work-appropriate shirts and pants for their day program at the independent living center near here that they're doing through the department of rehabilitation, because we just don't have many. and I have #TopSurgery coming up at the end of January, which means we're going to have a ton of extra expenses while I recover, and new wardrobe items like another binding shirt to join the rotation so that I can wash them, button front shirt and some lightweight zip up hoodies, so that I have clothes I can wear without raising my arms above my head, et cetera. so while I'm out of work, and from being the primary breadwinner in our household, we are struggling here. I could give you the excuses as to where our money went from the settlement I got from being hit by a car, but it was necessary things like paying off debt then. and now we need help again, so this is me extending the alms plate.
