Receding Autumn

The penultimate week of November, autumn was clearly on its way out, although there were still some trees and branches that showed some beautiful fall colours. This spot stood out to me, when I visited the always beautiful Speulderbos in the Veluwe National Park. The reddish carpet of fallen leaves on the forest floor, the different shades of orange, yellow and green leaves in the background, plus the bright green moss on the trees in the foreground, made that I really wanted to photograph this scene. Even though I had really hoped there would have been some fog that morning, it was beautiful either way.

De provincie Gelderland mag de 'probleemwolf' op de Hoge Veluwe die eerder dit jaar een hardloopster heeft gebeten toch niet doodschieten. Dat heeft de rechter vandaag bepaald. Volgens de rechter heeft de provincie onvoldoende onderbouwd dat het doden van de wolf op dit moment noodzakelijk is.

In mei gaf de rechter toestemming om de wolf dood te schieten die eerder dit jaar een hardloopster beet op de Hoge Veluwe. Daar is een vergunning voor afgegeven, maar die is tot 1 januari geldig.

Terug van een midweekje Veluwe. Op zoek geweest naar herten, zwijnen en ander wild. Maar niets van dat alles. Zelfs gekeken naar mensen die naar wolven keken. Heel ver weg. Dan maar naar Park Hoge Veluwe. Altijd mooi, ook vanwege de landschappen. Maar ook daar, naast een eenzaam dravend hert op het Reemsterveld, in de verte, niets te zien. Totdat... struikelde ik bijna over deze Hazelworm. Ook een mooie vangst.
