From walking the 'net, I found this article from Alex Chan:
https://alexwlchan.net/2024/static-websites/
The idea of a small, static, local #website for my own content is beautiful, and I would like very much to do the same as Alex.
The problem is: I'm a #digital #hoarder.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_hoarding
I have a barely organized collection of upwards of 10K books, 100K images, 17K songs, 3K videos, and 20K bookmarks; I have no time to #tag them all, and the collections grow steadily by the month.
While Alex can add and tag each item as she collects it, I would need hours daily, for years, to get even - and that's after many years building my current file system organization.
Does anyone know a #software for #tagging files in general (not only images or books, for instance), which matches all of the requisites below?
- Is open-source;
- Runs in both Windows and Linux;
- Does not touch or edit the files being tagged;
- Allows for exporting of #metadata to textual formats, like #JSON;
- Is easy to use;
- Has powerful search.
Hoarder v0.31.0 is out with big updates for developers! 🚀
The new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server means your AI tools can now "talk" to your bookmarks. Plus, the official CLI and SDK are finally here for programmatic access.
- AI integration via MCP server
- Official CLI/SDK for automation
- Enhanced browser extension

I have created a lot of collages over the years, and in 2025 I created 365 new artworks. I am very proud of this fact, and happy to have reached my goal before the year ended even though I have 2 more posts of collages to share on the blog because the days run out

My hoarder status was confirmed when I decided to look through my box of postcards last night. I thought I'd sorted this in lockdown, but seems I'd hardly started.
I guess I have a postcard obsession, as I still buy them in gift shops - but now I'm wondering: why?
I have sorted a whole pile to keep ( fashion & art related) and a pile for daughter to look through. But I also have "received cards" that I can't bear to throw away.
I've run my own mail server for decades, and due to a mix of unfortunate circumstances, bad choices and no backups, I have now lost those decades of email. Of course it's annoying to have lost recent mails, mostly because I run a business and need things like invoices and shit for my accounting. But it's also weird to have lost the archive. Messages to old friends and girlfriends. Weird blind dates. Friends saying hi. My first emails with my wife. People sending me photos. All gone. It fucking sucks. Or maybe it's a fresh start. I'm not sure.
How about you? Do you keep emails around for ages? If so, why? Time capsule? Weird obsession?
