Handley Page Halifax (W1048) - the ruin of this grand old plane were raised from the bottom of a Norwegian lake, where the bomber came to rest during WW2. Thankfully all crew members survived. These machines were of course used for a terrible purpose but I think that they still have a grandeur and beauty to them. I kept this as a colour image, as the discolouration and the texture of the rusted airframe has a beauty in its own right.

This small statue of Mary is located at a church door of an old Dutch church (b. 1492). The story goes that this statue was preserved during the iconoclasm (1566) because the stormers were in too much of a hurry to destroy the statues within the church.

Treadwell Mines accumulated $70 million in gold at the start of the 20th century, but was abandoned and sold after a flood in 1917. A century later, the earth has begun to reclaim this land.
