Creativity of the week: I worked on my 1830s corset, which seems to fit well. Mended a few things. And today @lithiablack visited for more 1830s talk and pattern tracing. Spacecat Spiff helped. And I read two books. One reread, “Gullstruck Island “ by Frances Hardinge, and one new, The Devouring Gray” by Christine Lynn Herman.

Just to be clear

a hiking outfit is first and foremost a *practical* garment, as evident from the fact that the skirt is not supported over a bustle but just a bit of padding

so if I'm making a matching hat it's perfectly reasonable to add earflaps to it, even if it's something that is vaguely shaped like a top hat, right?

No creativity of the week today, as the inky thing I did past week was seeing in my Robe Volante. I didn’t even finish a book! So I’m borrowing this from @thebohemianbelle1800 All the time periods I have made clothes for, as of now. From the 1660s to the 1950s. Though the last three decades are just my everyday clothes. I want to make more 17th century (always), and this year I plan to add the 1830s and also make a proper Regency gown. Which decade is your favourite?
