My first serious forage meal. This is leftover Pemmican stew, dandelion greens, wild onions, wild onion greens, pho broth, rice sticks, and some butter. Because the pemican stew had so much stuff (carrots, celery, aconia berries, walnuts, flax seeds, almond, beef, fats) the stew had such a deep flavor and was so nutritious. I could do with slightly less bitterness, but the greens were a few days old and the pemmican stew was made somewhat bitter by the nuts. Still very good though, just add sugar and or eat with sweet bread.

I'm going camping this coming weekend at an event with no room for my tent trailer and no good spots to pitch a tent. (rough forest) So, I rigged up a dog patch camper on the back of my little old pickup. I had an aluminum rack put on it when I bought it so I can haul lumber or whatever. I figured a homemade wooden rack that supports a tarp for the rain/wind/sun and a cloth over the back gap for circulation. A piece of plywood skin and an old outdoor carpet piece for the truck box. Mosquito net over the bed roll. Tail gate “kitchen”. All I spent was to buy a new tarp. This is fully in character both with the area I live in and with me.
