There was one version of a page claiming to be the Spanish highway authority, Dirección General del Tráfico (DGT), that warns you owe a 100 Euro fine (multa) for some kind of driving infraction you committed, that must be paid within 24 hours.
More recently, I spotted a flood of pages that claim to be from the UK government's Winter Fuel Payment program. The real program helps impoverished people not freeze to death in winter by subsidizing the high cost of heating. But this page simply wants your credit card to "test" charge your card for £1 on the promise that you'll get up to £300.

Himachal News: हिमाचल प्रदेश के बिलासपुर जिले में हाईवे डकैती की सनसनीखेज वारदात ने स्थानीय लोगों को दहशत में डाल दिया। रविवार रात करीब 12 बजे बलोह टोल प्लाजा के पास अज्ञात हमलावरों ने एक युवक की कार, डेढ़ लाख रुपये नकद और अन्य सामान लूट लिया। पीड़ित सुरेंद्र कुमार ने घुमारवीं थाने में शिकायत दर्ज कराई, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने जांच शुरू कर दी।
घटना का विवरण
सुरेंद्र कुमार, बगड़ गांव के निवासी, शराब ठेकेदार के साथ काम करते हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि रविवार रात वह अपने साथी मदन के साथ भगेड़ से घर लौट रहे थे। रास्ते में दो संदिग्ध गाड़ियों ने उनकी कार का पीछा शुरू किया। टनल के पास हमलावरों ने उनकी कार को घेरने की कोशिश की, लेकिन सुरेंद्र ने गाड़ी तेज भगा दी। बलोह टोल प्लाजा पर पहुंचते ही छह युवकों ने उनकी कार पर हमला बोल दिया। डर के मारे सुरेंद्र गाड़ी छोड़कर भाग गए और पुलिस को सूचना दी।
लूट का सामान
हमलावर सुरेंद्र की कार, डेढ़ लाख रुपये नकद, 6300 रुपये का पर्स, दो मोबाइल फोन और अन्य सामान लेकर फरार हो गए। पुलिस के पहुंचने से पहले आरोपी मौके से गायब थे। 20 घंटे बाद भी पुलिस को न तो गाड़ी मिली और न ही आरोपियों का सुराग लगा। पुलिस उपाधीक्षक चंद्रपाल सिंह ने बताया कि टोल प्लाजा के सीसीटीवी फुटेज की जांच की जा रही है।
फर्जी कर्मियों की ठगी
एक अन्य घटना में, दो युवकों ने खुद को आबकारी विभाग का कर्मी बताकर झंडूता के एक शराब ठेके से दो बोतलें मुफ्त में ले लीं। ठेके के मालिक पंकज राव ने सीसीटीवी फुटेज देखी, जिसमें दोनों व्यक्ति बिना पहचान पत्र के नजर आए। झंडूता पुलिस ने इस मामले में भी जांच शुरू कर दी। हाईवे डकैती और ठगी की ये वारदातें क्षेत्र में सुरक्षा पर सवाल उठा रही हैं।
