omg, I've mapped some keys to resemble HHKB layout and my fingers already glued

here's xremap snippet

- name: HHKBImitation
remap:
Ctrl_R-LEFTBRACE: UP
Ctrl_R-APOSTROPHE: RIGHT
Ctrl_R-SEMICOLON: LEFT
Ctrl_R-SLASH: DOWN
Ctrl_R-K: HOME
Ctrl_R-COMMA: END
Ctrl_R-L: PAGEUP
Ctrl_R-DOT: PAGEDOWN
Ctrl_R-BACKSLASH: DELETE

I have had Caps remapped to left Ctrl and backslash/backspace swapped, but I haven't expected those new arrow keys to be so natural

I am pretty sure I figured out my weird trackpoint acceleration problem with my #HHKB.

My working theory is: physical, hardware problem w/ the trackpoint itself. I took of the nub & pushed it in ever direction with the tip of my fingernail. You can visually see that its range of movement when pushed to the right is visually *less* than the range of movement available for left, up, & down.

No `xinput` command I will fix *that*

I think it's still under warranty.

(1/2) #lazyweb #XWindows (probably same in #Wayland?) tech support.

So, I have this trackpoint on the #HHKB Studio keyboard. It's nice, but I only use it when there is no standard pointing device around because the pressure I have to put to move it hurts my finger. I started messing with the acceleration curve, & it's getting better. *But* it acts differently on acceleration to the *left* vs. right/up/down.

I am concluding this must be a hardware problem, right? Read more in replies …

i have a thing to complain about.
i have recently been getting into keyboards and alternative layouts. which is all well and good.
i have three keyboards: a #unicomp model m, a #corne , and a #hhkb .
the corne was already vial compatible, i was able to flash new firmware for my unicomp and that's just fine.
the hhkb. the hhkb only use a proprietary remapping tool, and my hhkb, the professional classic, is not supported for the arbitrary reason that it is the base model.
Is anyone using the HHKB Hybrid Type-S ? Is it worth it? #hhkb
so i have been using my #unicomp model m after using my #hhkb for ages with my laptop and in many ways its a nicer experience. sometimes i miss the dedicated arrow keys. however. my model m is iso uk layout, the same as my laptop. but i have gotten really used to the hhkb american layout.
things like the escape key being closer, the backspace being above the enter, control on caps lock (by default, i use software to rebind it on my built in laptop keyboard and my unicomp).

how on earth do people even use keyboards without number rows? and i thought my #hhkb was small

#keyboards

I sometimes use a normal keyboard layout. I think this old modded Happy Hacking Keyboard is my favorite. I upgraded it with Ursa keycaps and a Hasu USB-C board that can be programmed with QMK, which is way better than the original software.

My current temporary desktop setup: #HappyHackingKeyboard Professional 2 (electrostatic capacitive #Topre switches) with #Domikey #Orange #Dolch #doubleshot #keycaps

Edit: Just noticed on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Hacking_Keyboard that the #HHKB Pro 2 is now 20 years old — released in March 2006 — and the HHKB in general nearly 30 years, released in December 1996.
