I thought my Henry hoover had died (started not switching on, then did, then didn't ...).

Someone at work suggested chopping off the plug and about the first 30cm of flex and fitting a new plug ... And it worked.

(Presumably after 10+ years of hard work, the wires near the plug have become worn / damaged)
