BirdsA species of dove that disappeared from the wild more than 50 years ago has been bred at a National Trust site near Bicester.
The aviary team at Waddesdon Manor, just over the Oxfordshire border in Buckinghamshire, successfully bred the Socorro dove, which became extinct in the wild in the 1970s.
Two chicks, known as squabs, were hatched in August 2024, marking the first successful breeding of the species at the site.
