@NanoRaptor

Thanks for the gentle kick in the butt to get me to write this! <3

(I didn't tag you directly, because my posts tend to turn into #hellthreads 😂)

@rl_dane Was wondering why my feed was devoid of both Dane and #hellthreads and came searching; clearly missed this post a week ago.

Hope you have a great sabbatical and all is well.

@dhry @wyatt High fives for everyone!!! Even @amin toooooooo!

(Is this how #hellthreads start?)

@khm

Almost all of my #hellthreads are because of my blog 🤣

As I recall, the thread goes on and on until attempting to load it causes a timeout.

We've had ONE thread like that, the #hellthread to end all #hellthreads. I think it was back in 2023.

There's a lot of things to love about Fosstodon, and I'm thankful to Kev and Mike for creating and maintaining it. And you're right, the local feed on Fosstodon is nerdy paradise.

But this community is pretty sweet, and I love the crazy #hellthreads (which I seem to largely be the cause of, lol). My only real complaint about Fosstodon is the 500 char limit, which annoys the crap out of me.

I've 80% decided to permanently migrate to here from there. The only negatives I have is that discoverability is still slightly hampered on here (mainly, searches don't work as well), GtS doesn't have edits (yet!), and an instance administered by a single person is more prone to downtime, although that's honestly been quite minimal.

I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed a growing trend of drivers (who I call 38's) who feel 'safe' driving at 38mph. They do this in 20mph, 30mph, and 40 mph limits and the odd 50mph - because they feel safe at this speed. I think it's the same people who hog the middle lane even when the left-hand lane is clear. They sometimes accelerate to 50 on Motorways and dual carriageways, but only when it's safe to do so. Has anyone else seen this?
