Im Wattenmeer und auf Helgoland ist eine außergewöhnlich hohe Zahl an Jungtieren beobachtet worden. Dies hat die aktuellle Zählung ergeben. Langfristig geht der Bestand allerdings zurück. Seehunde im Wattenmeer sind durch ein Abkommen geschützt.
NDR🦭 Anfang November sind auf der Hochseeinsel Helgoland die ersten Kegelrobben geboren worden. Diese Zeit ist auch für die Touristen ein Highlight des Jahres.

Grüne Dünenlandschaft. Über den Dünen ragen zwei Leuchttürme empor, die jedoch so weit voneinander entfernt stehen, dass sie nicht auf einem Foto zu sehen sind. (Panoramafotos mal ausgeschlossen.) Nur mithilfe der ICM-Technik stehen beide nebeneinander und zeigen ihr rotes und weißes Leuchtfeuer.
