IMHO…
While #PaulKeating may, on this occasion, agree with my views of #AUKUS; I am not going to listen to the views of the guy that introduced one of the most regressive taxes in #Australia - #HECS (and no, I don’t have, nor have ever had HECS debt)
He is a selfish, self opinionated arsehole that also managed to personally amas a private fortune while on a politician’s income.
The legacy of his demeaning of education and learning that is outside of universities has contributed to our lack of support for careers that are critical to our wellbeing as a nation.
His judgements of other politicians says more about him than them.
Rant Over.

Dear Australian government,

I would really like you to send me a letter telling me that you are completely wiping my HECS debt.

Failing that, I would like you to send me a letter telling me that you are reducing my HECS debt by 20%.

Thanks.

The study loan (#HECS) repayment changes are now law. Here's how to calculate your repayment using the #Haskell *tax* library:
```
help = lesserOf ((flat 0.1) (marginal [(67000, 0.15),(125000,0.02)])
due = min helpBalance (getTax help repaymentIncome)
Nice, $1000 off my HECS/HELP thanks to the changes in the indexation. Kind of bummed not to be working in Aus at the moment as I'd have paid it off this yr :(
Good news kids – the government is going to do something about your massive Hecs debt!
Just don’t read the fine print
The Guardian
I'd rather see people that have never earned an above average wage cleared of their HECS debt. Obviously, it was never of benefit to them, and we held them back from earning a wage sooner for no reason.
10 to 20 years or else it's not a valid debt.
