Terminal 5 still looks the part: lots of glass, plenty of light, and huge open spaces that make you forget you are standing inside a giant people-moving machine. A pity it is not a train, but there is no sleeper service to Hong Kong. At least the flight was direct.
Twelve hours on an A350 is not exactly gentle on the planet, roughly 2 tonnes of CO₂ for this one, but once I arrived it was straight to trams, ferries, footpaths, and the MTR.

Back at Heathrow Terminal 5. Last time was here was in January, heading for Mexico City. This time it is a city break in Hong Kong.
Bag dropped and passport remembered. Always oddly satisfying to watch your luggage disappear into the depths of T5 and trust it will reappear on the right continent.
