Whoever decided that it should be possible to call a ViewModifier (like .navigationDestination(for:destination:)) without the '.' at the beginning that connects it to a view.. I want a word with you and the #Swift compiler developers...

No compiler error (how!?) and a crash report with a 53.000 lines long, recursive backtrace???

Okay I have to revisit my initial harsh critic from the last Nintendo Direct / the first few hours of playing.

Offering a paid DLC at launch is still a scummy money grab move.. sorry GameFreak.

But…

Once Z-A actually lets you off the invisible walls tutorial leash it is rather fun to play.

Still not a fan of the whole “you have to climb the league ladder because it blocks your Main Story otherwise” scheme but outside that this title actually feels like they did their homework for once - it looks very nice, the graphics and performance are smooth for the first time since we got into (semi) open world titles, you’re no longer locked into instanced battles with Pokémon (hey Arceus my love, they listened to you) and it even plays great in handheld*

I’m looking forward to the story and the side activities and that’s a niche change for once.

"Fleischtomate was?"

I could be learning about Gameboy insides and how it works but the process need in me is convinced they nerd to sit down and write a toolchain file and Cmake setup for their #GBDK2020 first.

Not that there aren’t perfectly usable Makefiles included already.

On that same page.. I hope #JagEx pulls the finger and compiles an arm version of RS3 by then…

The current intel client is a performance nightmare, there are no 3rd party clients for RS3 either and the iOS/iPad client can’t be used on MacOS without jumping through hoops.

I’m really curious if the end of #Rosetta2 - now that it has an albeit distant deadline - will mean the end of #Wine on #macOS or if companies like #CrossOver or #openSource projects will come up with a nifty way to do JIT or AoT compilation to ARM? I can’t see the former be performant enough even on AppleSilicon but the latter is a real option imo. (And let’s be honest, game studios that have wine-wrapped Mac clients today won’t invest to bring a native client just because Apple removes or at least severely limits the translation layer).

I never got why people go nuts about realtime collaboration in coding projects… have you actually EVER tried to work on a real code base that needs compiling and test runs, and not just a web browser, while five other people edit parts of the same code??

Let me just tell you: it’s not pretty and the time you think you’re gaining is lost to “hey Joe, add that semicolon before you grab a coffee. The code doesn’t compile.”

After spending five hours in a traffic jam I have to say, you Austrians are idiots in regards to managing roadworks. In no scenario is convoy control, causing a 20 kilometre backlog with a four hour delay for everyone, smarter or more safe or efficient than letting people merge two lanes on their own.

I’ve also been entirely too deep into looking around self-hosted stuff and #pkm / note systems.

For a while I had a self-hosted AnyType server and I honestly was pretty happy with the app (think #Capacities but offline first and e2e encrypted) but I dropped AnyType because of the horrible / almost non existent user experience when trying to add new content on the go..

Why the heck does almost any pkm/note system have a browser extension but pretty much none of them has a clean sharing sheet or shortcuts integration to do the same on mobile?

I was actually even considering to give Capacities a go because even if no one says it out loud they’re just AnyType with a slightly more polished UI and cloud focus (and they’re made in Germany!!) but their privacy policy just doesn’t feel right.. “we could access your data if we put the effort into it (it’s not encrypted) but we won’t!”.

So on I went and tried #TwosApp which is a really nice concept but in the end felt just ever so slightly too cluttered after putting productive content into it.

So now I’m sitting on #ReflectNotes in my free trial (as per my previous toot) and I’m also eyeing #CraftApp because I could use it for free as part of my SetApp but they - while really pretty - feel a little to UI oriented to make for a good notes system/pkm and Inhavent found a lot of details on how to share content into Craft or things like automation/shortcuts.. (also once again: privacy policy is meh)

Seems like I’m rolling in a limbo again

Thank you for sitting through my PKM rambles.
