The continuation of the 'hostile environment' for migrants by the Labour Govt. has led not only to a levelling off of foreign trained doctors entering the NHS workforce but an uptick in departures of those trained outside the UK.

Its yet one more way the Labour Party's decision to try to out-do Reform in its rhetoric around immigration is having a unwelcome & negative impact on the country's public services.

Our political class are a bunch of donkeys...

They've given us Brexit - now acknowledged as a world-significant but of self-harming;

They think we can just put off any real measures to deal with the climate crisis;

They think pandering to the rich is the most important aspect of their work;

They think social democracy is dangerously revolutionary, and;

They are often self-serving & hypocritical in their financial dealings.

I just wish I have a viable solution!

Sometimes I read the paper(s) on a Saturday morning & my only response is to put my head in my hands....

how has it come to this (you can apply that to any number of stories from today and earlier this week)?

Once again, many of us will agree with the position taken by the Scottish Greens;

as Maggie Chapmen MSP says:

'For a UK Prime Minister to sit there and talk about his shared values with this President should set off alarm bells in every institution and every voter in this country. Cosying up to a racist, misogynistic, climate-wrecking authoritarian like Donald Trump is the last thing we should be doing'!

yet here we are....

Once again, the actions & pronouncements of the Labour Party led by Keir Starmer have prompted my old hashtag:

Given only around a quarter of the population would appear (if YouGov's data is accurate) to have a favourable opinion of Nigel Farage, why the hell is the Labour leadership so keen to ape hi views?

So, now Keir Starmer & Rachel Reeves look to be considering a shift on Personal Independence Payments after taking the temperature of political opinion.

This is such a ridiculous own goal:

First, propose a policy that is so callous & cruel that it was greeted with almost universal condemnation....

Second, double down claiming fiscal responsibility....

Third, when confronted by MP organising resistance, start to look at a 'U turn'.

Idiocy!

I know I sound like a broken record, but reading comments today on the slight drop in UK GDP in January, I've seen:

cost pressures allied to employers NI rises;

cost pressures due to changes international markets;

rising energy prices;

new green levies.

But when interest rates are mentioned we're led to believe that's about market views of UK public debt.

Why isn't anyone mentioning the explicit policy of the BoE to engineer a recession to 'control' inflation?

No-one will be surprised that Labour's 'pledge' before the election to bring in long-awaited moves to toughen the corporate audit regime, in the light of a succession of accounting scandals over the last decade or more, are now looking likely to be watered down or even possibly abandoned... because (yes you guessed it) they are seen as 'anti-growth'.

It adds to growing evidence that Labour would rather 'unshackle' business than protect workers & voters.
