On #ThisDayInHistory in 683, during the #SiegeOfMecca by #Umayyad forces, the #Kaaba burnt to the ground. Ka'ba was rebuilt by the stewards of Mecca (Makkah) the next year, then destroyed again in 693 to remove the semicircular #hatīm area, restoring its cube shape.
