My Fire! (subtitled More of the Psychedelic Soul Jazz Guitar of Joe Jones) is the second album by guitarist Joe Jones which was recorded in 1968 and released on the Prestige label.

From the liner notes:

"Light My Fire is one of those rare tunes that has had two best-selling per formances in rapid succession. Jones' version is up tempo and provides an interesting contrast to Jose Feliciano's more moody approach.
The aforementioned For Big Hal affords plenty of room for stretching out. Composer Mabern and leader Jones both have spirited outings here...

... The second chapter in the recorded career of Joe Jones presents a variety of spellbinding moods. ...His is a big talent and perhaps his recordings will create the type of demand for his work that will lead him into music on a full-time basis. Until then you have My Fire."

Blue Spirits is an album by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard released on the Blue Note label. It would be his last studio album for Blue Note, recorded in the 1960s. It features performances by Hubbard, James Spaulding, Joe Henderson, Harold Mabern, Jr., Larry Ridley, Clifford Jarvis, Big Black, Kiane Zawadi, Hank Mobley, McCoy Tyner, Bob Cranshaw, Pete LaRoca.

As stated in the liner notes, "The use of a fourth horn for this album, coupled with an exclusive focus on Hubbard's compositions, really threw light on the trumpeter's command of harmony, which is such a critical part of both his improvising and writing personality". Hubbard's playing here is among his best, and this album "is arguably the best recorded example of the Hubbard/James Spaulding partnership" which had been ongoing for the previous two years. - Wikipedia

Live recording of 1970 performance in Baltimore, MD. Amazing performance, hard bop meets free jazz? I'm always amazed how many jazz musicians have Detroit roots - I can add Brooks to that list.
