By the time Orca rose over Tau Ceti IV, Tau found himself outside an abandoned ranger station. After helping himself to some meals-ready-to-eat (they had spicy Brood balut!) and lapping from the half-full reservoir, Tau barked to open the comms. "Live from Engelszell! The Better Angels and their hit "Cherry Cupcake Super Fun Time!"
He could #hardly believe it. Despite the full belly, Tau laid down and whined. Tail still wagging to the beat on the radio.

The bell rang as the door of the Explorer Cafe opened. A heavy-set man, wearing a dark suit entered & approached my table. He eyed me.
"Baron Criminel…" I said, nodding.
"*He* was here." It was not a question.
"Who?"
He looked at me sharply.
"You playin' with fire. He stick him nose where it not belong. You can #hardly imagine de consequences of gettin' involved."
"I'm just here for Esperanto. And a good latte."
He smiled—a gruesome expression. Then, emotionless once more, he departed.

While the God squad didn't shut down Dino Dan's, the insurance company put the screws to the roadside attraction. A new security system meant Dan would be eating a meal a day, barring neighborly hospitality, to keep a roof over the heads of his menagerie.
Joey found himself watching Red, now braving the outdoors, limp about or feast on roadkill deer. Red wasn't Archie. He didn't remember why or how he knew, but Joey *knew*, #hardly realizing the danger he might've been in that night.
