Very interesting post by Roger Monte from the Search Engine Journal.

Apparently the decline began after Mullenweg initiated his public attacks against WP Engine in the fall of 2024.

And personally I can confirm that:

WordPress used to be a kind of »happy place«, and it has lost that appeal after Mullenweg began to insult and ban community members at random.

I didn’t read these recently, and I guess they’re well-known to a lot of people, but I think sadly unknown to many others who, like me, would ordinarily never think to read a book marketed as #RomanceFiction :
