The last real employee just micdropped out of #HappyCow . There's just the new CEO and a bunch of devs left. According to her latest LinkedIn post, the new CEO thinks she's heading a software company. HappyCow was never a software company. It was a community resource. Enshittification in progress.
I wish you could filter out reviews from westerners on #HappyCow or other review sites for #Asian #vegetarian food.
It's a generalization, but can't trust most of them them. Too many mediocre, overpriced restaurants in touristy areas in Japan or elsewhere, catering to western #vegetarians, getting glowing reviews.
The discussions about #HappyCow alternatives over the last couple of days have motivated me to remove the 'under construction' message from a blog I had planned to start a long time ago.
But better late than never! To start with, you can find a summary of my Mastodon thread about finding #vegan / #vegetarian restaurants using #OsmAnd as the first post:
This post describes how to find vegan restaurants on mobile devices via OsmAnd, which uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, and was first shared in this Mostodon tread. Conequently, there is no need to rely on commercial services that track your data, spam you with adds or restrict access to features behind paywalls to achieve this. Essentially, this guide is a list of steps to follow, illustrated with German screenshots. However, these screenshots are just for reference, and you don’t need to understand German to follow the steps.
And this is everything that is wrong with the elitism on #HappyCow in one picture. 5* on a cunt scale.
