A pile of #sewing!
This is a reversible jacket, with #embroidery on the brown side, grey reverse. Embroidery is custom for this jacket. It's inspired by the #Japanese #hanten, which is a quilted winter coat. This jacket, with two layers of denim, is not quilted.
This was a wonderful collaboration with the embroidery artist, and I look forward to being able to do more projects with her in the future.
This textile factory in Japan still uses cassette tape, old Z80 computers, and punch cards to produce its hanten jackets and other materials. And hand stitching to assemble things too. The video is quite calming to watch, but seeing the old computer equipment still being used makes you realise that newer isnt always better. #hanten #computers #z80 #solarpunk
