J'allais faire un post dessus.

J'affute en coticule jaune des Ardennes, et j'achète chez Ardennes Coticule (le nom s'invente pas).

C'est :
- faire fonctionner une entreprise a taille humaine
- ne pas aller chercher une pierre chez les ricains ou les jap. Impact carbone
- ne pas faire tourner une usine (pierres synthétiques, diamant)
- une pierre qui part de 800 et qui peut monter à 6 000/10 000 (bon à ce niveau, ça veut plus rien dire).

J'affute mes rabots, ciseaux à bois, couteaux,... tous !

Felling 9 holly trunks (~25 ft) and selectively salvaging the best sections for lumber. Holly is dense, fine-grained, and beautifully pale when fresh—too good to waste. Branches will be chipped; straight logs are to be milled on a Timberking 1220 band saw for small woodworking projects.

Really trying hard to come to 1/16" with hand tools because I can't find law bowling leagues in Northern Ontario but...might have to find something else if this keeps up :(

Thinking more on tools & that gets me into the most common thing I'll likely use, namely a groove plane or maybe 2, as I'll need something that's can made at least 3/4th inch wide grooves, beyond the "typical" 1/4th inch, which I doubt I'd use much, as I hate plywood.

Most likely having seen the Paul Sellers video & how adjustable this design is , I'll try to find a few sensible Chisels tomorrow, after the roof repairs & see if I can't then basically follow along to make at least the 1/2 inch & 3/4 inch grooves to make the chicken pen builds quicker & easier.

I decided against trying to get a jointer and planer in my tiny workshop and got an old stanely jack plane. I am also keeping my eyes peeled for a number 4 plane also.
If I ever end up getting the cash together to build my workshop maybe ill get a power planer but I also don't wood work enough for that, and recycling tools that ate older than I am just feels right.

Hand tools vent. Maybe this will save someone some grief and #expense if they find it with a search.

Wiha - great drivers & bits. Love 'em. Well-machined, good tough tool #steel.

But their needlenose pliers? Rubbish. I have a set of full-sized needlenose, plus their "micro" set. With both of them there's too much slop in the joint, so the jaws are never quite aligned. I don't recall if they were bad right out of the packaging, but I certainly noticed it within the first handful of usages. I have the full sized "standard" / linesman-type pliers as well, but you don't tend to notice slop because of the much shorter jaws.

Wiha's micro-needlenose pliers are no better than - or even noticeably worse than - #cheap #Chinesium ones I have.

Save your money.
