Knitting all finished - now off to washing and "blocking" (laying it out all flat and pulling into shape).

The leftover yarn is about 15 g / 50 m, so yeah, would definitely not been enough, but the other yarn blends in really well.

It's short, just waist length, but I think for a slipover that's ok.

From all the pictures so far the one of the finished garment is probably most true to color.

Second pair for 2026.

Picture and lighting aren't great, but they are leaving my house tomorrow so there won't be another chance to make a better one.

Colorful socks for a dear friend, smaller than I'm used to (her feet are about 4 sizes smaller than mine). I hope I got the sizing right. 🤔

Leg is done in sections of fisherman's rib and twisted rib, so that part is really squishy.

More pictures - I'm just so proud of this cardigan. The fit is absolutely perfect and is an ideal second layer inside

A few notes on what I did to make it fit my body: I added about 10 cm additional width around the front. Partly by an extra increase round after the yoke was finished, partly by adding some bust increases at the armhole after parting sleeves and body. This gave me the necessary width, where it was necessary

Done, finished, ready to wear.

I reworked the zipper. This time I matched up the crucial points and then worked in several steps. I think it worked out pretty well. There are two places, where it's a bit wavy but I think that's because the zipper is probably a bit too heavy for the fabric. Knowing me I will rarely close it and when it's open this isn't noticeable.

It's lightweight (about 360 g) and warm, perfect for this weather

Picking a lining fabric is a little bit like matchmaking! 💞

You want to pick a lining that goes with your main fabric- for example, a silky rayon bemberg is a perfect match for this medium-weight wool coating. For a cotton eyelet, a smooth and lightweight cotton fabric would complement it well. For a rain jacket, a removable flannel lining might be just the thing!

We chat about lining styles, methods, fabrics, and more in Episode 187 - listen in if you missed it or if you just want a refresher.

That's it!

I love, how it came out, it fits really well (need to find a time slot with good light and my partner available to take good pictures when wearing it).

It's about 325 g or about 1.250 m with a bust width of 110 cm. It's probably possible to make it work only 4 colors, making the uni colored blocks a bit wider, especially the top one (from that color was left the most).

Are you traveling this holiday season? ✈️🚗🧳 Bring your sewing with you!

We know, holiday visits are usually pretty busy. But if you can squeeze a little bit of sewing in during the quieter moments, it might make the difference between frazzled and festive. Sewing is such a nice brain reset. Here are a few ideas for bringing your sewing along with you:

🪡 Hand sewing takes up a lot less space than machine sewing. Do some hand finishing on a garment - or do some of the construction steps by hand! It can really improve your skills.

🪡 Embellish your me-mades or thrift finds with hand embroidery.

🪡 Try out a new hand sewing technique like applique or hexie quilting.

🪡 Bring your machine along and work on whatever makes your heart sing.

We have a bunch more tips and ideas in Episode 234: Sewing and Travel! (Not to be confused with Episode 273: Sewing FOR Travel, which is about sewing clothes, bags, and accessories BEFORE a trip. 😂)

Socks - again.

But they are a bit special in that it's a yarn that has been sitting in my stash for maybe 20 years. According to the manufacturer this colorway was produced around 2001 ...

It was still in pretty good condition so I'm looking forward to wearing them for a long time (Opal is rather sturdy yarn).

Pattern is a simple combo of brioche st and purl background over a little more than half of the front st.
