I finished the coat part by sewing my two not-large-enough pieces together approximately along the shoulder line, cut it open on the front, and attached the hood with preliminary basting stitches to try it out. It's a bit too loose and I still have to take some fabric away from the hood so that it doesn't catch the wind as much. (It also still needs a button to hold it together.)
#HandSewing is a lot of fun, and relaxing work.

The sides are French seamed to prevent fraying.

Although looking at the sunny 16°C outside I doubt that I'll wear this woolen cloak any time soon, it turns out I need something tangible to distract the other hemisphere of my brain while listening to my colleagues during the stand-up meeting. So top-stitching the lining canvas it is. Very meditative, and perfect for increasing listening performance, much better than trying to catch up on mail instead. 😁
