I talked about the one-day tech class that Dan @kb6nu is teaching this weekend Saturday 2026-02-07 in Ann Arbor.

I also mentioned the Dayton bus that ARROW is running from Ann Arbor to #Hamvention this year again, in the hopes someone would drive down from East Lansing to pick it up.

Yay! Just confirmed that I'll be at Dayton Hamfest in May this year! Going with a good friend and ham buddy ( @SwiftFoxPGH ) and spending Friday and Saturday there. Really looking forward to it, and hopefully I'll see some masto hams there too!

Just submitted a proposal to the Dayton #Hamvention folks for a talk on teaching a one-day Tech class. I gave a similar talk in 2017, but this time around, I will add additional info on teaching classes to hackers at cybersecurity conferences with help from an #ARDC grant.

I did this cartoon for CQ Amateur Radio Magazine when "Dilbert" was pulled from newspapers in 2023.

As it turned out, CQ magazine outlived "Dilbert," but only for a few more months.

Back in May, when I went to #Hamvention (the big radio convention outside of Dayton), two different guys told me "FCC agents" were flashing badges and questioning people in the flea market/swap area.

I thought they were mistaken, paranoid or exaggerating. But now, with feds from various three-letter agencies now showing up all over the place and acting tough ... I'm not so sure.

Best side effect of observing Hamvention activities from afar is that I learned about this cool club, 64 years young, putting out a paper magazine, and hosting some of the most exciting minds in amateur radio at Four Days in May.

Saturday turned out to be a sunny, cool, and quite breezy day at the show. It looked like a few vendors left, and a few new ones showed up with stuff being unpacked throughout the day.

We took a second tour of the flea market and looked inside one of the exhibit halls - things were just too packed in there to worry about.
