I like to hang out on 30m - it's my favourite band when not in some contest. Long time frustration: as always RBN picks me up in W7, ZL, ZF, VR and what not at the same time.
Yet ZERO replies apart from some EU. If one of those DX calls CQ it sure raises an instant EU pile-up.
That's why I like CW contests. It draws a crowd.
