The statue of Viking Leif Eriksson (c. 975–1020) against the backdrop of the Evangelical Lutheran Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavík (Iceland). The statue was a gift from the United States to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the Icelandic Parliament (Althing) in 1930.
Leif Eriksson was probably the first European to set foot on the American mainland around the year 1000.

Situated on the hilltop Skólavörðuholt near the centre of Reykjavík, the church is one of the city's best-known landmarks and is visible throughout the city.

Something shot on this day back in 2018. We'd flown up the night before to spend a long weekend in Iceland's capital and spent this first day exploring on foot, hitting as many museums as possible, and one or two craft ale bars too. We grabbed an obligatory shot of Hallgrímskirkja in the dark early evening because you've pretty much got to.
