Appointment with new gynaecologist went super well!
It started with her complimenting my shoes.. which is always a win. She then took a complete history and, when I was explaining the pain issues I'd had with my previous iud insertion, she documented the higher pain score I'd mentioned instead of assuming it was an over-exaggeration.
I said I had 3 or 4 days of like a 6-8 out of ten pain, she wrote "4 days of 8/10 pain". It made me feel really heard!
I told her about my suspicion that I have lichens sclerosis (it's a possible autoimmune issue that is vastly under diagnosed because of people just not being believed), and she not only believed me but didn't scoff when I said I'd been reading up about it online.
We did an exam, she said that she agrees with my assessment and thinks I have it. She took two biopsies to just double check that nothing else is going on because lichens sclerosis can increase cancer risks due to the tissue irritation. She's prescribed me creams to treat it, and we have a management plan in place.
So, considering I was absolutely dreading today's appointment it went so well! I really like her and feel comfortable seeing her as my gynaecologist. I wasn't expecting an exam, let alone having biopsies taken...
I'm sore as fuck now that the local anaesthetic is wearing off. I have two small sutures in my junk which will dissolve over the next couple of weeks.
