Our joyride yesterday in Ulster County brought us to Rough Cut Brewing in #Kerhonkson . What a great place to hang out, enjoy a #beer and a burger. Plenty of indoor and #outdoor seating & fire pits,; nice relaxing vibe. They're just down the hill on Rt44/55, past the entrance to #Minnewaska State Park. I enjoyed the Holstien Stout while Mrs. Adam liked the Mawkit & Sleekit Scotch Ale. Highly recommended. #HudsonValleyNY #Gunks #Upstate

My friend Bob climbed Apoplexy (5.9) in the Gunks today. Age 81. Possibly some kind of a record!

I'll be doing some guided outdoor rope #climbing for the first time ever this coming Monday. I've only done #toproping in the gym so far and cannot wait to get on some real rock. (I've bouldered outside before, but not extensively.)

Rather nervous, but equally excited. I'll be at the #Gunks in #NewYork, which is primarily #trad, too, which is probably the scariest part for me.

But eff it. After three years of gym climbing, it's time to get outside.

I took my son climbing in the Gunks for the 4th time on Sunday. We did a route called Gelsa. He panicked on the top part of the route, which is very exposed. He left all my gear still in the rock. We made it to the top just as it became pitch black, and walked back to the car in the darkness. By the time I rapelled the route the next morning, all my climbing gear had been removed. $600 or $800 of gear gone that I can't really afford to replace.
