Glasfaser an Ölpipelines zu verlegen, ist einer der sichersten Wege. Denn diese sind sehr gut geschützt und nicht so anfällig wie die Unterseekabel. Zumal man neue Kapazitäten aufbauen und der chinesischen Dominanz bei den Unterseekabeln etwas entgegensetzen kann.

Natürlich völlig klar, dass sich Google und Co. da besonders hervortun. Da stellt sich dann schon die Frage, wo souveräne Digitalität so anfängt. Bestimmt nicht erst beim heimischen Rechenzentrum.
