🧵 So, it turns out that TS-M1N1 by #GuitarML, which is apparently a sophisticated clone of the legendary TS-9 Tubescreamer pedal, does a pretty tubescreamer-like distortion.

However, on my studio PC is an old Xeon W-2140B which has a rather weak single-core performance and at 64 samples buffer, this clicks into plenty of xruns with this overdrive. (This machine has lots of multi-core power, but single core…)

Actually I am experimenting with a re-creation of my #bass #FX pedal board in #Carla #PluginHost.

So far I found an okayish #Guitarix Chorus (the old TAL 60 Chorus has too much latency), using my favorite reverb as Impulse Response, some Gate/EQ from LSP, and TAL Dub-X delay.

I don't know yet if this endeavor makes sense to me.

My motivation basically is the #VCVrack argument… being able to switch complete setups including all the patching.

However, compared to a bunch of pedals by tc Electronic, any computer, no matter which OS and plugins, is a vulnerable thing.

Three new releases for the #opensource #tb303 #emulation #jc303 by #midilab are currently in the works:
1. #guitarml overdrive models implementation
2. Preset management
3. Step sequencer
As with the previous release, I contributed the #ui #design for the new features. 🤓

Well after a lot of screwing around with #PyTorch I think got the #GuitarML #Jupyter notebook to run locally on the M1's GPU, aka MPS. Still not flying, but at least it was an educational exercise.
Holy shit this looks like it has some very interesting potential https://youtu.be/86oQuYHjpy0 #GuitarML

I was just introduced to #GuitarML (https://guitarml.com/) and boy it seems like you can have a lot of fun with their stuff. It happens to be that ChowDSP's BYOD (bring your own distortion) can load the models for more guitar tone tinkering. 🎸🎛️

...oh no there's also NeuralPI pedal and amp modeling software 😬
