#Inqtober Day 31: Free Space: The Grillet Box Inspired by the amazing Mordheim box Art by Nicky Grillet made in 2019, I began this project almost exactly a year ago. I was walking home from dropping my kids off and noticed a large case. I’d been looking for a good antique case for 2 years with this build in mind, I’d been to countless thrift stores and vintage shops, but the perfect box literally was just deposited on the sidewalk like garbage. Inside was a fold out record player with speakers on the doors. It was water damaged as it had been left out for several days. I set to emptying, sanding, and where possible repairing or taping over parts. I still need to find a good quality replacement latch for one of the doors, I made a stand in out of thin steel and it’s not going to last. I also still need to replace the handle on the top. But! The interior detailing is finally done. Most of the walls and walkways are Warlayer, the specimen tank is Dragon’s rest, as are the couches. Lots of wood filler, plasticard, needlepoint mesh, and corrugated paper also went into the build. My favorite part about it is that the Warlayer terrain that goes on the empty surface folds up and everything fits inside. 2 internal areas even have magnetic strip glued down so crews could be transported as well. The only thing it’s missing is somewhere to store books 😅 This was the culmination of a lot of hard work and I can’t wait to actually try playing on it at some point! #Necromunda #inq28 #warmongers #warhammer40k #warhammercommunity #kitbash #3dprinting #paintingminiatures #grilletbox
