Annapurna Massif seen from Sarangkot. Annapurna South (7219m) dominates here on the left-hand side of the photo. Its eastern ridge (right) drops and then rises to another peak: Hiunchuli (6441m). Further right the ridge drops again to the Modi Khola Valley and Machapuchare (6993m) is on its other side, unseen in this photo. Behind Hiunchuli, slightly to the right of it, is Annapurna I (8091m) – the massif’s main peak. Right of it is the Annapurna’s long and high ridge, which culminates again on Annapurna I Central (8051m) and then on Annapurna I East (8010m). It farther stretches towards Khangsar Kang (7485 m), unseen here. Monochrome, black and white – greyscale image. Photographed at sunrise, in January.
