I just got my feed in tariff payment for the winter (mid august to mid march)

It covers my total power bill for the same period

Summer is going to be even better

At every step on our low-carbon journey there have been lots of people saying it won't work.

This tech is so good that the subsidies keep getting reduced - which is fine - the tech keeps getting cheaper and better.

Given the continued discussion of the problem of growth for climate change, the ability to manage some level of economic growth while still attaining Net Zero looks like the holy grail for Liberal greens (those who see a de-growth strategy as too politically dangerous).

While we are already seeing relative de-coupling, to achieve net zero Farooq Sher (NTU) argues an absolute decoupling must be achieved!

But, this doesn't look easy!

Why ‘decoupling’ energy emissions from economic growth underpins the green transition

Net zero isn’t just about renewables. Decoupling shows how smarter energy systems, efficiency, and technology let economies grow while cutting emissions.

Ugh, not this thing again...

Look, there will always be people who believe that 2+2=5. There will always be "groups" that are impossible to "reach" because they never want to hear the truth.

Instead of wasting our time and resources on trying to speak with those who actively insulate their false convictions from the reality, how about we focus on building our movement, strengthening our momentum and helping our activists?

In the next week or so, shipments of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) will reach their destinations marking the end of supplies from the Middle East now halted by the US/Israeli attack(s) on Iran & the Iranian response.

After that (given the damage to LNG facilities in the region of the war), there will be between three to five years of constrained supply & higher prices.

Essentially exactly what's needed to drive an accelerated green transition (ironic, huh?)

Not quite how I imagined the green transition would go, but I suppose it is one way to "keep it in the ground"

Iran vows to destroy Middle East water and energy facilities if US attacks power plants

Tehran’s response to Trump’s threat signals a potentially dangerous escalation as both sides menace sites relied on by millions

China has been preparing for a global energy crisis for years. It is paying off now

As other Asian economies race to conserve energy, China has huge reserves of oil and gas as well as alternative energy sources like wind and solar

The Guardian

One thing nobody tells you about solar..

Quite often you produce more power than you can use.

People talk about energy as if there is a shortage...

But what happens when there is too much?

What innovative uses will appear for all that free power?
