Also at the park this morning I had my first ever recorded sighting of a green heron! I love them so much with sneaky long necks but had never actually seen one in the wild. I only had my phone with me so I couldn't take the best photos, and it just kept stalking back and forth along the shore and never stuck its neck out, but I was still really happy to spot it. Normally I have to get my green heron fix from @BeazLouise

Green Heron - Peggy Colman
Green heron on a log. Colors blues, greens and browns, neck rust brown, head rust with gray blue cap trailing down the neck. Wings are forward and down showing all the jewel like patterns in the feathers. The head is focused on prey with the beak just piercing the water.
