I planted some tomatoes and cucumbers (and lettuce, but only 2 seeds sprouted and then the seedlings wilted). I transplanted each seedling into its own pot and lined them on the radiator under a south facing window. Sadly I have no balcony. Honestly, I do not expect them to bring me any fruit in my home and plan to give them away. But today I was poking around a cucumber seedling to help break apart the cardboard nursery pot into which I initially transplanted it (the instructions say they can be transplanted to a bigger pot in cardboard pots) and the tomato plant in the neighbouring pot was twitching in the same direction in which I was poking the soil. The very cucumber didn't twitch that much. The pots were not touching one another. I thought I was losing my mind. I do not believe in "the secret life of plants", and even if I was hurting the cucumber seedling and it sent chemical signals, no plant should move this quickly 😱 Took me 5 pokes to realise what was going on 😅
Anyway, if anybody has a garden or a balcony and wants a haunted cucumber or tomato plant, let me know. (You do need to come to Heidelberg to pick it up.)
