On #ThisDayInHistory in 1697, #StPaulsCathedral in #London was consecrated. The #gothic original was largely wrecked in the #GreatFireOfLondon in 1666. The new one, to a design by #ChristopherWren, was finally completed in 1710, and was the city's tallest structure until 1963.

I've been listening to a podcast about the Great Fire of London and found it of note that in the aftermath the blame was put on foreigners and those who followed a different religion (in this case Catholics)
