Terrible news from the #Colorado #GrandTraverse (CB to Aspen #skimo race): Race canceled at the last minute!
Sounds like recent weather changes have made snow completely isothermic (unsafe), river crossings impassible, and evacuation routes inaccessible. Racers were told to go home.
Hopefully more information to come but my heart goes out to the several people I know personally (and hundreds I don’t) who trained so hard all year for this event.
27 miles isn't really an "ultra," I guess, but it makes me feel better to obsessively prepare like it is.
It's the SHT, so my ankles may argue against the distinction.
Pretty sure my buddy that's running with me this weekend will be throwing his kit together at 11pm the night before. It takes all kinds.
